Apple is apparently making gains in US smartphone market with iPhone 8

Apple recently published its financial reports for its fourth fiscal quarter which covers the period to the end of September.

The company reported iPhone sales of 46.9 million iPhones for the quarter, this is the last time they will report how many iPhones they have sold.

According to a recent report by Kantar World Panel, Apple has strong gains in the US smartphone market and this has apparently been down to devices like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Dominic Sunnebo, Global Director for Kantar Worldpanel ComTech comments, “Healthy early sales of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models in the States are good news for Apple.  Combined with the continued strong momentum we’re seeing among its iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, these sales have contributed to a 5.0 percentage point increase in OS share for Apple in the US – the biggest gain seen worldwide this quarter.  iPhone 8 was the top selling model in the US over the quarter, with a 9.4% share of the handset market, and with iPhone XR launching outside this period we’d expect Apple share to tick up further towards the end of the year.”

Apple is apparently facing stronger competition from Android manufacturers in Europe, where it will be able to make major gains in Europe remains to be seen.
