In January this year, HTC surprised us with the announcement of a new flagship smartphone, dubbed the U Ultra. The smartphone didn’t quite prove to be a stunner, mainly because it runs on an outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC under the hood. But if you’re interested in the U Ultra, now is a great time to order one. As part of its Easter sale this week, the HTC U Ultra has received a significant $150 discount on its list price. That brings the price down from $749 to just $599. While that’s definitely a decent discount, $599 is still not great VFM.
The U Ultra isn’t the only device that HTC is offering at a discounted price this week. HTC’s One A9 can be purchased at $300 less than its sticker price, while the HTC 10 is getting a $200 discount. The relatively new Bolt on the other hand, is $150 cheaper this week. In addition to the $150 discount, those purchasing a new HTC Bolt will also receive a free clear case for the handset.
Usually, manufacturers never offer significant discounts on new devices at least until they have been on the market for several months. HTC’s move then, could mean that it is preparing for a new flagship launch. Quite obviously, the device we’re talking about is the HTC U (Ocean), which is said to go official sometime later this month. Another reason could be that the U Ultra hasn’t received a great response from consumers, especially in the United States. Of course, the fact that it isn’t widely available in the United States from major carriers doesn’t help either.
All of the above models, except for the HTC Bolt, are unlocked, so you can use them with any carrier you wish to. To receive the discount, you will not have to apply any promo code. All you need to do is head over to the official HTC online store and choose the device you wish to pay and make the payment.
