nABC sidechain compressor

sidechain compressor

If you are in the market of the sidechain compressor that can be triggered by audio, analog gate/CV, MIDI, USB and even a pedal. The new nABC compressor designed and created by Stefano Sorrentino might be worth more investigation. The nABC has been specifically designed to make sidechain compression easier, flexible and intuitive. Launched via Kickstarter this week the compressor is available from £250 to beta testers with shipping expected to take place during August 2019.

“The nABC is a stereo analog sidechain compressor where compression can be concurrently triggered in different ways. It can be used as a traditional studio-quality dynamic compressor, to shape transients for any audio track. But the real innovation is that its sidechain can be triggered by analog gate/cv signals, USB, MIDI, audio signals, or even a pedal. For example, musicians can finally freely program analog sidechain compression patterns using sequencers, MIDI controllers or DAW, while at the same time being able to adjust the shape of each compression transient with millisecond-level precision.”

“In addition to off-beat ducking effects, the nABC allows for example to individually shape the envelope of each note of an arpeggio, or to create dynamic gate-like effects on a pad or a vocal track. When processing drums, each hit may be compressed with individual settings. Compression is no longer a subtle sound engineer tool, but rather a creative weapon that shapes the sound and forms its character. “
