Raspberry Pi Receives Official TensorFlow Artificial Intelligence Framework Support

Raspberry Pi TensorFlow

Raspberry Pi enthusiasts may be interested to know that the Google Machine learning software TensorFlow offering and artificial intelligence framework, will soon be available for the Raspberry Pi. Enabling Raspberry Pi developers to take advantage of the TensorFlow AI technology in a number of different ways to build a variety of applications. “We’ve long supported Linux, MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android, but despite the heroic efforts of many contributors, running TensorFlow on a Raspberry Pi has involved a lot of work,” the company’s software engineer, Pete Warden.

TensorFlow was first launched in 2015 and was created to provide an “open source machine learning framework for everyone”. TensorFlow offers developers and enthusiasts a fast, flexible, and scalable open-source machine learning library for research and production.

Founder of the Raspberry Pi project, Eben Upton, explained the launch represents how vital it is that a modern computing education covers both fundamentals and forward-looking topics. “With this in mind, we’re very excited to be working with Google to bring TensorFlow machine learning to the Raspberry Pi platform. We’re looking forward to seeing what fun applications kids of all ages create with it, and we agree,”

To take advantage of TensorFlow, your mini PC will need to run Raspbian 9 (stretch) and you can install TensorFlow by running these two commands from a terminal:
