As well as announcing their new Galaxy Note 9 smartphone and Galaxy Watch, as expected Samsung also unveiled their new Bixby smart speaker in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Home. Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light, we will keep you updated as always.
What Samsung did reveal as a tripod speaker equipped with AKG tuned audio and a subwoofer for deep base sound, equipped with an eight microphone array to support far-field voice detection. Together with a unique feature that allows you to ask the speaker to guide audio directly to your location within the room using a new technology Samsung has called “SoundSteer”.
As with all smart speakers you can use your voice to control the Bixby personal assistant and support for Spotify will be rolling out to the Samsung smart speaker very soon. Thanks to a partnership between Spotify and Samsung. The smart speaker takes the form of a modestly sized speaker coated in cloth and held up by three metal legs with touch controls located on the top allowing users to pause, play and skip tracks as well as control volume.
When the Samsung Galaxy Home does eventually launch it will need to complete with the likes of the already established Amazon Echo smart speaker range as well as Google Home and the recently launched Apple HomePod Siri speaker.
